Our March meeting with focus on Manufacturing. Our featured speaker will be Norman Eder, Ph. D., a Patner at CFM Strategic Communcation, Inc. as well as of Manufacturing 21 "a private-public partnership [that is] an active and authentic voice to advocate for Oregon and Southwest Washington’s manufacturing economy." Norm will be speaking about trends in manufacturing and the important areas that manufactures and those who support the industry should be advocating for. Questions like "What are the trends in Oregon Manufacturing?" and "How can we grow manufacturing in Oregon?" and "How can we encourage more investment in Manufacturing?" will be addressed and much more. If you are a manufacture, educator, or is a business that relys on manufacturing, you will not want to miss this meeting.
Our Featured Speaker
Norman Eder, Ph. D.
Norm launched his public affairs and communications career under the tutelage of Don Clark, a Multnomah County Executive. In 1982, he went to work for Oregon Graduate Institute. During his 17 years at OGI, he managed all aspects of public affairs and communication after earning his Ph. D. from University of Illinois at Chicago in 1980. Norm’s interests are wide ranging. He joined the teaching faculty of the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 1981 where he continues to teach in the liberal arts department. He won a Fulbright Fellowship in 1994 and spent six months in Seoul, Korea, eventually authoring a book about Korean environmental politics. Norm’s community activities are just as diverse. He currently serves as President of the Westside Economic Alliance and is Chairman of the Board of the Wind & Oar Boat School. Norm has no shortage of hobbies to fill his every waking hour. He is an avid gardener and photographer. Norm is a frequent visitor to Pacific City, where he often catches Chinook salmon, Dungeness crab and digs for clams. He has a weakness for rhythm and blues and a special fondness for building and sailing classic wood sailboats.
